Man Found Dead In Malibu Was An Isolated Incident: Deputies

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday provided updates on their investigation of a man found dead in Malibu on Tuesday.

MALIBU, CA — There is no risk to the Malibu community after a man was found dead on Tuesday outside the Trancas Canyon Nursery, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Lost Hills Station.

LASD's Homicide Bureau has assumed control of the incident's investigation, according to a Facebook post from the Lost Hills Station.

"We are confident this is an isolated incident, and our Malibu residents and the community are safe," the station said in a Facebook post.

Authorities did not specify how they determined the incident was isolated.

The man, 58, worked as an overnight security guard for a nearby shopping center, according to LASD Homicide investigators. The station said in a Tweet there was a "possible assault" overnight at the nursery.

The Lost Hills Station considers the death to be potentially "suspicious," authorities said on Tuesday.

Authorities received a call around 7 a.m. Tuesday reporting a man laying in a pool of blood near the 30700 block of Pacific Coast Highway, authorities said. The man was pronounced dead on the scene having sustained blunt force trauma to the upper torso, authorities said.
