Mountain Lion Research in Santa Monica Mountains Focus of Fundraiser
The funds will go toward purchasing GPS collars and remote wildlife cameras needed for mountain lion research in the Santa Monica Mountains around Malibu.

A fundraiser to benefit moutnain lion research in the Santa Monica Mountains, including GPS collars and remote wildlife cameras, is set for later this month.
The event, which is put on by the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the Santa Monica Mountains Visitor Center at King Gillette Ranch, 26876 Mulholland Highway in Calabasas.
A live mountain lion, interactive displays, food and wine will be on hand, according to organizers.

The cost is $100 for adults and $25 for children under 12.
The Santa Monica Mountains Fund is a nonprofit that supports National Park Service and the California State Parks in the protection and public enjoyment of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

Last year, researchers documented the birth of two lion kittens near Malibu.
