New PCH Lane Closures Planned As Road Reopens

PCH is finally open to the public. But new lane closures are planned as post-Palisades Fire rebuilding continues.

One northbound lane of PCH just north of Big Rock Drive will be shut down weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MALIBU, CA — Less than a week after Pacific Coast Highway reopened to the public for the first time since the Palisades Fire, the road will be subjected to additional lane closures, Caltrans announced Thursday.

One northbound lane of PCH just north of Big Rock Drive will be shut down weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. while city crews work to remove and replace a drainage pipe that way destroyed in the fire, officials said.

The area has a 25 mph speed limit.

Officials expect the work to be completed in early June.

The closure comes after a section of PCH between Santa Monica and Malibu reopened last week after being closed for five months following the Palisades Fire and winter storms that brought flooding and debris flows to the area.
