Teen Injured in 30-Foot Fall at Rock Pool

The 16-year-old Westlake Village resident suffered possible back injuries.

A Westlake Village teen was injured Sunday in a 30-foot fall in Malibu Creek State Park.

The fall was reported at 3 p.m. Sunday, according to David Katz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Malibu Search and Rescue.

Rescuers determined that the 16-year-old suffered possible back injuries, and he was evaluated by paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Katz said.

He was walked out in a sheriff's Malibu Search and Rescue litter and carried out by the team to an awaiting ambulance. He was taken to a hospital.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue Team members are Reserve Sheriff’s deputies who volunteer their time to help others for $1 a year, and who partner with sheriff’s civilian volunteers who volunteer for free.
