The number of Manhattan Beach residents testing positive for COVID-19 continues its more pronounced paced, as area hospitals try to cope.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — While Manhattan Beach doesn't have enough COVID-19 positive test cases to call it a COVID-19 boomtown, its number of cases continues to increase at a higher number of new cases per day than happened with the July surge.

And as Los Angeles County hospitals face an onslaught of COVID-19 patients, local medical centers are asking the public to cooperate with the county's health orders.

"What I can tell you is that approximately two months ago, we only had 8 cases at LCM Torrance [Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center]. Today [Friday, Dec. 18] we have 120. Please continue to follow the stay-at-home order and wear a mask," said Andrew Werts, director, communications, Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers, Torrance and San Pedro.
