America's Best Vegan Restaurant Is In The South Bay: Ranking

REDONDO BEACH, CA — America’s best vegan restaurant is in Redondo Beach, according to a recent ranking by Yelp.

The business review website ranked its top 100 vegan restaurants in the U.S. for 2024 using various factors including volume and ratings of reviews, according to Yelp, which announced the ranking ahead of World Vegan Day on Nov. 1.

“Vegan restaurants are having a moment. Once a niche cuisine, plant-based food — free of animal ingredients — is now a top dining trend, as more consumers choose diets for a healthier body and planet,” Yelp said in the announcement.

No. 1 on the list was lil’ Vegerie, which is known for its juices and salads, but also offers heartier fare such as its Philly cheesesteak bowl with marinated portobello mushrooms and smoky cheddar cashew cheese, according to Yelp.

The restaurant opened in May 2022 and promises “no soy, no chemicals, no gluten, no processed,” according to Yelp, which noted lil’ Vegerie also ranked No. 1 among the website’s top 100 places to eat in Los Angeles County for 2023.

Southern California dominated the vegan restaurant ranking, with Hey, Sunshine Kitchen in Culver City coming in at No. 4 and Vegan Stops in Garden Grove ranking seventh.
