Brunick, Boxer Battle For Manhattan Beach Unified School Seat
Jason Boxer holds a steady lead that has lessened by about the smallest percentage possible in Manhattan Beach Unified School District Race.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Cathey Graves and Jason Boxer are still in the number one and two positions for the two seats open on the Manhattan Beach Unified School District Board of Trustees. Graves and Boxer have held those slots ever since the first vote tally around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night but Mike Brunick continues to edge closer to Boxer.
Graves currently has 32.09% with 8,763 votes; Boxer has 24.02% with 6,561 votes. Brunick is holding third place with 22.81% and 6,229 votes, pulling him just 332 votes shy of Boxer. Heather de Roos has 21.08% with 5,757 votes.
The two open seats on MBUSD are vacancies that will be left by longtime board members Bill Fournell and Karen Komatinsky. Fournell amy be stepping down after 10+ years but he is doing so as his wife Grettel may be stepping onto the Manhattan Beach City Council if her current third place finish holds. Komatinsky, after 10 years on the MBUSD board, is stepping down. Her youngest child is close to graduating out of MBUSD.
