City of Manhattan Beach Playgrounds Likely To Reopen Soon
Outdoor playgrounds in Manhattan Beach have been closed for some six months due to COVID-19. LA County is now allowing them to reopen.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Outdoor playgrounds on city property may reopen soon, according to officials with the City of Manhattan Beach. Mayor Richard Montgomery expects City Council to address the subject at Tuesday night's council meeting during the portion devoted to COVID-19 and direct staff to reopen city-owned playgrounds.
Said Mark Leyman, Manhattan Beach parks and recreation director, last Friday, "We are currently developing the opening protocols." The city closed its playgrounds due to the COVID-19 pandemic and could not reopen them without receiving the green light form Los Angeles County. That green light came this past week.
