East Manhattan Beach, Sand Section Report Majority Of Thefts

The week of September 21-27 saw 14 thefts, 4 vehicle burglaries, 1 unlocked residential burglary, 1 commercial burglary in Manhattan Beach.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The Manhattan Beach Police Department has introduced a crime report map on its Facebook page. MBPD says it "will continue to improve this crime map as we progress." This first installment of the map and accompanying crime report covers September 21-27.

One commercial burglary was reported along with one residential burglary in the Sand Section in which the home was left unlocked. The commercial burglary looks to have occurred behind Manhattan Village near Parkview Avenue.

One auto was reported stolen in the Sand Section near Rosecrans Avenue and four vehicle burglaries, two apparently in the Sand Section and one in East Manhattan Beach. A fourth one could not be seen on the map.

MBPD noted that vehicles are being left unlocked, making entry easy for anyone. Several subjects were said to have also been checking doors to see if vehicles were locked, accoridng to the report. Two bikes were stolen and there was an attempt to steal a catalytic converter.

The parts of Aviation Boulevard not shown on the map did not have any crime reported. MBPD asks residents to "keep your cars/homes locked up at all times" and to report suspicious activity to MBPD Dispatch at (310) 545-4566.
