Eat, Drink, Shop: Buy Local Today Says Manhattan Beach Resident

MANHATTAN, CA — Proving that a party of one can do great things and make a difference, Manhattan Beach resident Terry Brennan is calling for community members to support the small, local, independent restaurants, grills, pubs, taverns, eateries, diners, clothing stores, kids clothing and toy stores, book stores, ice cream and gelato shops, healthy foods shops, shoe repair shops, art galleries, gift shops, home decor businesses, and businesses in Downtown and North Manhattan Beach.

To that end, the one-man band, who calls all of his helper shoppers "the save our businesses crew," is organizing the "Save Our Local Businesses" activity today [Saturday, December 5] from 2-4 p.m. The El Porto resident also asks everyone to wear a mask, stay outdoors except when shopping, keep a distance between yourself and others outside your household, bring your own drink ware and eating utensils as necessary and "If You're sick or high risk, stay home."

Brennan is asking shoppers to buy gift cards, T-shirts, burgers, books, flowers, flip flops — whatever it is you care to purchase. The main goal being to make a purchase at a local small business to help them stay afloat during the pandemic.

Brennan, who says "Bring signs #SupportLocalBusiness and #LocalAndProud", also asks folks to show off their purchases via social media and word-of-mouth. "Show them the love so they can stay open," he notes.

He also adds that even if you are unable to attend, you can still make a purchase by buying a gift card online or getting someone you know to go make a purchase in person today for you.
