Eateries, Dishes Manhattan Beach City Council Candidates Prefer
The 1st question in Sunday's MB City Council Candidate Forum held on Facebook by the Manhattan Beach Residents Forum covered dining in MB.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The two moderators of Sunday's Manhattan Beach City Council Candidate Forum held by the Facebook group Manhattan Beach Residents Forum opened the FB Live event by asking candidates about their favorite MB restaurants and dishes. Each of the seven candidates gave an answer, and their choices covered a broad spectrum.
The Source Cafe, which recently opened on Sepulveda Boulevard on the heels of its original location's continued success on Pier Avenue in Hermosa Beach, came out ahead, with two nods from two council candidates. Candidates Chaz Flemmings and Grettel Fournell named The Source Cafe as their go-to for delicious, healthy, nourishing cuisine. Flemmings, who has worked as a chef, called the food healthy. Fournell said she could eat their Beet Salad everyday.
Candidate Phoebe Lyons gave her nod to Two Guns Espresso, with three locations in Manhattan Beach, saying their Egg and Spinach sandwich is "the best breakfast sandwich ever." Candidate Mark Burton was the only candidate to actually answer the question as it was asked, saying he'd dine at Lido Di Manhattan Ristorante & Bar on Rosecrans Avenue and have their salmon for dinner.

The question asked each candidate to name the Manhattan Beach restaurant they would dine at and what they'd select for dinner if money was not an issue. As one of two moderators, Manhattan Beach Residents Forum co-founder/administrator and MB resident Charlene Dipaola asked the question, attempting to set a light-hearted stage and break any ice.
Candidate Joe Franklin picked Sloopy's Beach Cafe in North Manhattan Beach, naming their Peanut Butter milkshake as a splurge, saying he'd take a bunch of friends "if money were no object." Incumbent Richard Montgomery said he'd go to OB's Pub & Grill, a locally-owned restaurant in North MB for their Taco Tuesday. Incumbent Steve Napolitano went with Ercoles in downtown Manhattan Beach for their 2-for-1 burgers on Wednesdays.
