MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — It's basically status quo in the race for two seats on the Manhattan Beach Unified School District Board of Trustees. Ever since Election Night, Cathey Graves and Jason Boxer have held the number one and two positions, respectively, with Mike Brunick trailing in third place but slowly creeping up on Boxer from a distance.

Graves currently has 32.04% with 10,098 votes; Boxer has 23.98% with 7,557 votes. Brunick is holding third place with 23.01% and 7,252 votes, pulling him within 305 votes of Boxer. In the previous vote count on Monday, Brunick was 332 votes behind Boxer. Heather de Roos has 20.97% with 6,608 votes.

The two open seats on MBUSD are vacancies that will be left by longtime board members Bill Fournell and Karen Komatinsky. Fournell will be stepping down after 10+ years. Komatinsky, after 10 years on the MBUSD board, is stepping down. Her youngest child is close to graduating out of MBUSD.
