MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From March 28 to April 3 there were:

  • 610 calls for service
  • 15 arrests
  • 19 traffic collisions
  • 44 crime reports taken

  • On March 30, officers received a report of a vehicle burglary in a CVS parking lot at 2900 Sepulveda Boulevard. According to police, the car's owner was inside the CVS when a suspect shattered the passenger-side window and took a bank envelope from the center console. MBPD said a witness saw the crime and took a picture of the suspect's vehicle before they called the police.
  • On March 30, police received reports of a man at a CVS store at 1570 Rosecrans Avenue who allegedly stole items and was checking car door handles in the parking lot. When police arrived at the scene, they found the suspect in his vehicle and attempted to arrest him. According to MBPD, the suspect struggled with police and two officers sustained minor injuries. The suspect was eventually handcuffed and taken to jail without any further incident, police said.
  • On April 1, a resident reported that their home in the 200 block of 34th Street was ransacked. The resident told police that he returned home from somewhere and discovered that his Jeep inside his garage was ransacked. Upon going inside, the homeowner found that several rooms were also ransacked and that a Smith and Wesson Revolver was missing. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
  • On April 3, a nanny called police to report that a person experiencing homelessness was threatening to stab the nanny. When police arrived at the scene, they found that the unhoused person did not have a knife and instead was holding a small rock. Police detained the unhoused person and they were taken in for a mental heath evaluation.
