MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From March 7 to 13 there were:

  • 728 calls for service
  • 12 arrests
  • 17 traffic collisions
  • 38 crime reports taken

  • On March 7 officers caught wind of a stolen car driving into Manhattan Beach. The MBPD conducted a traffic stop and the suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.
  • On March 7 police responded to a report of an attempted break-in at a home in the 1900 block of North Ardmore Avenue. The home is currently vacant in between tenants, police said. The suspect used a tool to try to pry open the door, but the owners told police they didn't believe the suspect was able to get into the home.
  • On March 8 residents of a home under renovations in the 3300 block of Ocean Drive told police they saw suspects entering their home on their security cameras. The suspects left the home without stealing anything or damaging property, MBPD said.
  • On March 8 police conducting an organized retail theft operation caught a suspect stealing from Old Navy. The suspect was arrested, MBPD said.
  • On Match 8 police arrested a suspect in the 1200 block of Parkview Avenue who is believed to have stolen a wallet near the Manhattan Village Shopping Center. MBPD believes the suspect is also responsible for a residential burglary at a home where they had recently done plumbing work.
  • On March 9 officers responded to a residential burglary report in the 400 block of 2nd Street. The home was vacant because it is currently for sale. The realtor for the property alerted police when they visited the home and discovered the sliding glass door was open. According to police, a safe with ammunition and coins inside was stolen.
  • On March 9 a resident reported that items were stolen from their car. According to police, the car was left unlocked.
  • On March 9 officer attempted to stop a stolen vehicle that had entered the city, but the driver didn't stop. The police pursued the vehicle and the chase ended at the north 405 freeway and La Tijera when the car crashed. The suspects fled from the vehicle and police were able to catch and arrest two of the three suspects.
  • On March 12officers attempted to stop a bicyclist for a violation of a Manhattan Beach Municipal Code. According to police the bicyclist refused to stop and began to pedal away from the patrol vehicle. The suspect started to "ride in a pattern" to evade officers. Eventually, the bicyclist complied and stopped the bicycle and was arrested for obstructing, resisting and delaying officers. During a search of the suspect's property, police said they found burglary tools.
