Kinecta Donates Backpacks, School Supplies To Families In Need
The Manhattan Beach based Federal credit union passed out backpacks, school supplies, sweatshirts for the 11th year to LA County students.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Some 600 students are feeling more set for the new school year thanks to Kinecta Federal Credit Union's backpack giveaway. Kinecta collected hundreds of backpacks and $3,800 in donations to stuff the backpacks with school supplies.
“We are so proud that this is our 11th year hosting this backpack giveaway for families in need,” said Latrice McGlothin, community engagement officer, Kinecta Federal Credit Union. “Local families spend approximately $200 per student each academic year on supplies, and our hope is that this will relieve some of the burden.”
Kinecta distributed the backpacks in the parking lot of Dignity Health Sports Park, where hundreds of families arrived to pick up backpacks, school supplies and sweat shirts before the start of the new school year.
