Man Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting Woman in Manhattan Beach
The woman was reportedly left with life-threatening injuries.
MANHATTAN BEACH (CNS) - A 40-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly assaulting a woman in Manhattan Beach, leaving her with life-threatening injuries.
Police were called about 3:35 a.m. to the 200 block of El Porto Street after receiving reports from a witness who reported seeing a man running from the backyard of a residence after hearing a woman scream, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
Officers reviewed security footage and learned the man had entered another residence and barricaded himself inside. The man threatened to kill himself if police entered the residence, but officers were eventually able to negotiate a surrender and took the man -- Johnny Leroy Vigil, 40, -- into custody just after 4:35 a.m.

Officers searched the home and found the woman seriously injured on the floor of a bedroom, according to the MBPD. She was taken to a hospital and was being treated for life-threatening injuries. The exact nature of her injuries was not released.
Vigil was booked on suspicion of multiple felony charges and was being held without bail.
