Manhattan Beach City Middle Management Employees Form New Collective Bargaining Unit

The union was formed by the city's middle managers out of the desire for consistency in cost of living increases, the group's president said

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA -- About 35 middle managers working for the city of Manhattan Beach formed a union for collective bargaining, according to the Beach Reporter.

New union president Shawn Igoe, a utilities manager for the city, said the Manhattan Beach Mid-Management Employees Association was formed out of a desire for consistency, according to the Beach Reporter.

“The group wants to get more consistency with how cost of living (increases are) given,” Igoe told the Beach Reporter. “And then, there was a long period when this group didn’t receive any increases, cost of living adjustments or anything like that, while other groups were getting increases. So we’re just looking at trying to make sure that we’re consistent across the board.”
