Manhattan Beach Weekend: Harris Ranch Meats At Grow, DineL.A. On
Temperatures are expected to soar this Labor Day weekend so heading to the beach in Manhattan Beach might be the best way to stay cool.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Labor Day is here this coming Monday, September 7 and some working folk will have the day off. Manhattan Beach City Hall will be closed, banks will be closed, and no trash will be collected on Labor Day. Street sweeping will be on hiatus on Monday and resume its normal schedule Tuesday.
Here's a list of a few things going on this weekend in and around Manhattan Beach:
- Go to the beach. Any beach in Manhattan Beach will do. If you want to be within walking distance of provisions, go to the beach downtown south or north of the Manhattan Beach Pier or El Porto in North Manhattan Beach.
- If air conditioning is what you're looking for and you want to relax a bit, head to Torrance and the Ken Miller Recreational Center, which is being used as a Los Angeles County Emergency Cooling Center Saturday and Sunday from 12-6 p.m. The center is behind the Benstead Plunge and near the James R. Armstrong Theatre at 3341 Torrance Boulevard.
- Enjoy a homemade Cold Sesame Chicken and Noodle Salad compliments of Kathy Fisher of Grow who has the recipe online [scroll down a bit]. It's a nice, cool meal you can enjoy anytime and is quick and easy to make. Grow'er specials this week include Grow's potato salad, Harris Ranch Prime Ribeye Medallion, Harris Ranch Sirloin Hamburger Patty in 85/15, one-pound of cooked giant shrimp, organic blueberries, mangoes, romaine lettuce, Bakerly Brioche Burger Buns, Kinder 's Organic Mild BBQ Sauce, and more.
- We all have our favorite places to dine or that favorite menu item that leads us someplace over and over again. The dineL.A. Restaurant Week is a great way to indulge and dine at our favorite restaurants while also discovering new places. Prix Fixe menus for lunch and/or dinner at set pricing is how the dineL.A. program works and 11 Manhattan Beach restaurants are participating. So, now there's a way to try out some new dishes and delectables all weekend long. The dineL.A. Restaurant week runs through September 18.
- September is Pedestrian Safety Month so please slow down while driving. Peds should also pay attention to their surroundings and not be looking at a cellphone or electronic device while crossing streets or walking.
- And remember to wear a mask when in public and amongst non-household members of the public. Manhattan Beach does enforce its mask ordinance and fines start at $100. Don't get fined.
