Manhattan Beach's Santa Float Getting Makeover
The float has termites, dry rot and sun damage, and is in need of a major repair.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA -- The Christmas season was just barely over than the folks at Leadership Manhattan Beach is already hard at work prepping Santa's float for the holidays, according to The Beach Reporter.
The float has been around for the past 62 years, making the rounds in Manhattan Beach on 14 different nights, according to The Beach Reporter. The float was last repaired in 2009, but this past holiday season the float was showing its age, according to The Beach Reporter.
Some of the reindeer broke and the antlers had to be repaired, according to The Beach Reporter. The float also has termites, dry rot and sun damage, according to The Beach Reporter.

Steven Carvel, the chairman of the Kiwanis Santa Float Committee, said this year's Leadership Manhattan Beach class wanted to preserve the tradition by saving Santa's float, according to The Beach Reporter.
