Manhattan Burglary Suspect Arrested After Trying To Break Into 2 Homes In One Night

Marco Antonio Deluna, 42, of Los Angeles, was arrested and booked at for robbery and residential burglary, police said.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA -- A burglary suspect was taken into custody Thursday evening after trying break into two Manhattan Beach homes, police said.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., Manhattan Beach Police Department responded to an attempted burglary at the 1300 block of Walnut avenue, MBPD Sgt. Tim Zins said. The resident saw the suspect attempting to break into her home when she heard glass break inside the home, Zins said. The suspect fled when he was confronted by the homeowner, he said.

"While MBPD officers were searching the area for the burglary suspect, we received a second call of a residential burglary in progress in the 1700 block of Pine Avenue," Zins said. "This victim was in a physical fight with a suspect at his residence."

The homeowner struck the suspect with a shovel in self-defense during the struggle, he said. The suspect, identified as Marco Antonio Deluna, 42, of Los Angeles, was detained when police arrived.

After an investigation, police determined that Deluna was linked to the earlier attempted burglary that night, Zins said.

Deluna was arrested and booked at for robbery and residential burglary, he said.
