Mayor Pro Tem Elected President Of Independent Cities Association
Manhattan Beach Mayor Pro Tem Richard Montgomery was appointed President of the Independent Cities Association, the City announced.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Manhattan Beach Mayor Pro Tem Richard Montgomery was appointed President of the Independent Cities Association (ICA) at the 2019 ICA President and Board Installation event on September 27, the City announced Wednesday.
"I’m honored to serve as President of the Independent Cities Association and look forward to working together with like-minded independent cities in the region to collaborate and advocate toward public safety, infrastructure and economic development initiatives," said Mayor Pro Tem Montgomery.
This is the second time Montgomery has been appointed, and he previously served as ICA President from 2010 to 2011, the press release said. ICA is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1960. It is made up of nearly 40 member cities in the Southern California area and an 18-member Board of Directors.

The organization focuses on issues such as public safety, education, infrastructure, legislative advocacy, intergovernmental relationships and other major issues, the press release said. ICA holds seminars bringing together city council members, city officials and business partners for the purpose of collaboration, networking, and knowledge exchange.
