Missing Elderly Man With Health Conditions Sought In The South Bay

HAWTHORNE, CA — Authorities are seeking the public's help in finding a missing 82-year-old man who was last seen Tuesday in Hawthorne, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Carlo Olortegui was heard from around 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 5000 block of 139th Street in Hawthorne, his family told authorities. He is possibly heading to the area of 135th Street and Hawthorne Boulevard, the LASD said in a statement on social media.

The 82-year-old has health conditions, including cognitive impairment and his family is concerned for his well-being, the LASD said.

Olortegui is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs 109 pounds. He has black and grey hair, brown eyes and a mustache, the LASD said. He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a black hat with "U.S. Army Veteran" on it and a face mask, the LASD said.

The LASD asks that anyone with information on Olortegui's whereabouts contact the department's missing persons detail at 323-890-5500.
