The wood chips help absorb impacts & are added annually to Veterans Parkway as well as other parks, including Sand Dune in Manhattan Beach.
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The once-a-year spreading of new wood chips on Veterans Parkway in Manhattan Beach concluded last Friday, according to Shawn Igoe, maintenance division manager for the City of Manhattan Beach.
Wood chips, which assist with absorbing impacts, come from a company in Fontana. The wood chips are also used in the dog parks and a few other parks such as Sand Dune Park, said Igoe.
The wood chips are comprised of softwoods and hardwoods, according to Igoe.
