Science Meets Art at El Camino College Planetarium, Observatory
The community is invited to Art of Science/Science of Art on Nov. 5.

From El Camino College:
Science and art will converge through a special three-part series at El Camino College that explores the theme of the cosmos and space exploration – past, present and future.
The community is invited to “Art of Science/Science of Art,” an opportunity to lounge, listen, and learn under the full dome of the ECC Planetarium and observe the night sky on the college’s rooftop Observatory. El Camino College’s Community Education Department and Natural Sciences Division will sponsor this event that will explore space through music, photography and 3-D digital arts.

The first event is set for 6-9 p.m. Nov. 5 and will feature music, with sound installations and a DJ by Dublab, an online radio station dedicated to the growth of music, arts and culture. An original musical composition by musician/composer Cat 500 will also be presented, with a fulldome film by L.A. filmmaker Jim Towns. A planetarium show by Susan Stolovy and observatory show by Shimonee Kadakia, both El Camino College assistant professors, will round out the evening.
The second event runs from 7-10 p.m. March 18 and will feature photography and video art by photographer Connie Samaras, in conversation with ECC physics instructor Kyle Strohmaier. An observatory show by Kadakia is also on the evening’s agenda.

All members of the community ages 6 and older are invited to attend. Admission is $10 per adult and $5 for children ages 6-17. Campus parking is $3.
