MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From Nov. 22 to 29 there were:

  • 707 calls for service
  • 20 arrests
  • 13 traffic collisions
  • 46 crime reports taken

  • A man and his passenger were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft on Nov. 27. in Manhattan Beach. According to MBPD, the driver didn't have a driver's license and gave officers a false name during a traffic stop. When an officer asked the man to step out of the vehicle, he rolled up his window and attempted to drive away, authorities said. Officers physically restrained the driver and turned the vehicle off. After further investigation, officers discovered the car was stolen from another city and arrested the driver on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as other charges.
  • On Nov. 29 police responded to a robbery at Macy's. According to witnesses, the suspect pushed a security officer as he fled the store. Officers initially located the suspect in the area of 8th Street and Sepulveda Boulevard but the suspect continued to flee into a nearby neighborhood. Officers established a perimeter and located the suspect with the assistance of a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter and arrested him on suspicion of robbery as well as other charges.
