MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — A fire broke out at the Chevron Refinery in El Segundo Friday afternoon, and a non-toxic substance was released in the process, the City of El Segundo said.
The fire was extinguished and the El Segundo Fire Department is monitoring it.
Earlier Friday morning, the refinery conducted a flaring event. Smoke was seen in the area.
