MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From Oct. 10 to 16 there were:

  • 775 calls for service
  • 15 arrests
  • 22 traffic collisions
  • 47 crime reports taken

  • On Oct. 11 police on patrol at the Manhattan Village Shopping Center were told a theft had just occurred at the Van's store. A witness pointed police toward a suspect walking away with a skateboard allegedly stolen from the store. Police attempted to detain the suspect, but they fled from officers. Eventually, the suspect was detained and the skateboard was returned to the Van's store.
  • On Oct. 11 at about 8:45 p.m., police received a report of a residential burglary in the 1600 block of 21st Street. According to MBPD, the suspect removed a window screen from an upstairs window and stole jewelry and handbags from inside.
  • On Oct. 14 police were dispatched to a vehicle burglary at about 2:57 p.m. in the 800 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard. According to police, a vehicle theft had just occurred and the suspects fled. As the suspect car drove away, a person inside used one of the doors to hit a person attempting to stop the suspects from getting away, witnesses told police. The suspect fled east on Manhattan Beach Boulevard from John Street. No additional information was available.
