Tanker Cars Derail in El Segundo; Authorities Advising People to Avoid the Area
No one was hurt in the accident, but it is creating a traffic headache, according to media reports.

EL SEGUNDO, CA -- Several tanker train cars have derailed and overturned along tracks in the area of Douglas Street and Chapman Way in El Segundo, officials said.
The accident forced the closure Douglas Street between El Segundo Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue, snarling traffic, according several media reports.
The derailment was reported about 2:30 p.m. near Douglas Street and Chapman Way, according to El Segundo police.

Firefighters were at the scene taking readings to check for possible leaks.
Some areas around the tracks appeared to be flooded, but it was unclear if the derailment was rain-related and there was no immediate word on what, if anything, was inside the tankers.

A report from the scene indicated they were possibly carrying liquid petroleum.
The derailment prompted the suspension of rail service on Metro's Green Line between El Segundo and Redondo Beach and buses were requested to shuttle passengers between the stations.
Normal Service on the Green Line resumed about 5 p.m., according to Metro.
Officials are advising drivers to stay away from the scene, according to a report from the scene.
No evacuations have been ordered at this time, the El Segundo Fire Department said in a tweet.
