EL SEGUNDO, CA — About 20 people were hurt Monday morning when a Los Angeles Department of Transportation bus crashed into a parked semi-truck in El Segundo.

The El Segundo Fire Department was called around 8:30 a.m. Monday for a bus crash and rescue involving multiple people at Imperial Highway and North Douglas Street, the city's fire department wrote in a Facebook post.

Firefighters found multiple people hurt, with one trapped inside the bus. A "multi-casualty incident" was declared with about 20 people hurt.

Three people, including the driver of the big rig, were hospitalized with critical injuries, El Segundo Fire Chief Deena Lee told multiple media outlets. Two suffered moderate injuries and two others had minor injuries.

Seven people in all were hospitalized, and 13 others who were on the bus suffered minor injuries and refused to be taken to the hospital.

Imperial Highway was shut down in both directions and police were investigating the cause of the crash.

The big rig was parked and offloading a scissor lift on Imperial Highway when the bus crashed into it, according to reports.
