What's Up: Boutique Sale, Culinarians Day, Trombones, Woodstock

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."  ~Margaret Meade

Here are five things for your Thursday in Manhattan Beach:

  1. The posh pop-up store Satine, 1141 Highland Avenue, is holding a Boutique Warehouse Sale today through Wednesday with 50 to 80 percent off. You'll find some of the names on sale here.
  2. The Manhattan Beach dining scene has come alive with some great "foodie" restaurants and contemporary, healthy options. Today is National Culinarians Day so feel free to tell your favorite chef how much you enjoy the cuisine and tell the chef at home how much you appreciate them.
  3. The Murphy's Law Quartet, a Los Angeles-based trombone quartet, will play a free concert at Trinity Lutheran Church Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Back together after a two-year hiatus while members completed graduate degrees, MLQ plays music Bach, Debussy, Ewazen and more. The group was the 2010 TCU Trombone Quartet Competition Grand Prize winners.
  4. A Woodstock Tribute takes the stage in Manhattan Beach Sunday as part of the city's free summer concert series. Concerts are outdoors in Polliwog Park from 5 to 7 p.m.
