MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From Sept. 19 to 25 there were:

  • 746 calls for service
  • 22 arrests
  • 13 traffic collisions
  • 44 crime reports taken

  • On Sept. 20, police were conducting a security check at Mira Costa High School when they saw a person cutting a bike lock and trying to steal a bike. When the suspect saw the officers, they fled, but officers were able to quickly catch them. According to police, the suspect was linked to prior bike theft from Mira Costa.
  • On Sept. 24, police were dispatched to the intersection of Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard at about 1 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a woman passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle. While investigating, police discovered a fully loaded gun inside the car. Police arrested the woman and booked her into jail.
  • On Sept. 25, officers responded to a Vons Supermarket after receiving reports of a robbery that had just occurred. When police go to the grocery store, they determined that two men took approximately three bottles of alcohol worth in excess of $700. Employees also said one of the suspects shoved a staff member as they fled.
