5 Things to Know: Underage Prostitution Operation Nets 150 Arrests, Including 4 in L.A.

- A three-day nationwide operation focusing on underage victims of prostitution—including raids in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside Counties—resulted in about 150 arrests of alleged pimps and other suspects and the recovery of 105 sexually exploited children, the FBI announced Monday. The sweep took place in 76 cities and was carried out by the FBI in partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, along with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
- The Los Angeles City Council will meet. The agenda includes recommendations to confirm five new commissioners, including former mayoral candidate Kevin James, to the Board of Public Works; two motions by Councilman Gil Cedillo to undo discretionary fund transfers approved by his predecessor, Ed Reyes; a report on funding drainage improvements at Fern Dell in Griffith Park; and a $50,000 reward for the identification, apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the the murder of Dejon Ward.

- Tuesday's ultraviolet index level in the Los Angeles area will be 11, according to the National Weather Service. The reading indicates what the UV exposure is expected to be at noon, when the sun's rays are at their strongest. Ultraviolet radiation is blamed for a host of health problems, including skin cancer and cataracts.
- The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Tuesday for the 11th consecutive day, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.063. The average price has decreased 5.7 cents over the past 11 days and is 4.3 cents less than one week ago and six-tenths of a cents lower than one month ago but 23 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
