7-Month Road Construction Project Begins on Admiralty Way
The road construction may affect some Marina del Rey residents and cause traffic delays.
Marina del Rey residents can expect more road construction along Admiralty Way and surrounding streets beginning Monday, according to a letter sent to residents from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.
The "roadway improvement project" is expected to last seven months as crews work to resurface the existing pavement along sections of Admiralty Way, Via Marina, Bali Way and Mindanao Way. The project also includes the installation of additional left turn lanes on eastbound Admiralty Way at Bali Way and at Mindanao Way.
During construction, the county warned residents of traffic delays and possible parking restrictions along the affected streets. No parking signs will be posted on streets at least one day prior to the arrival of work crews.
"During construction, parking may be restricted and traffic will be delayed by large equipment and the delivery of materials to the job site," officials said in a letter to residents. " Access to adjacent properties will be maintained by the contractor except for short periods of time when it is impractical to do so... If access is blocked temporarily, notification will be provided by the Contractor prior to the work."
The county also said that traffic along affected streets may be reduced to one lane in each direction on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The following streets will be affected during the construction project:
- Admiralty Way: From Via Marina to Fiji Way.
- Via Marina: From Washington Boulevard to Marquesas Way.
- Bali Way: From Admiralty Way to Lincoln Boulevard.
- Mindanao Way: From Admiralty Way to Lincoln Boulevard.
According to the county, the project will be completed at no cost to adjacent property owners and also includes enhancing the landscape along the roadways.
During the project, residents can relay questions or concerns to pubic works community liaison Brittany Barker at 626-458-4971. Barker will be available Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
"We apologize in advance for any inconvenience the construction may cause," the county said. "We hope that upon completion of this project, you will find it to be a great improvement to your community."
