Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community to Cruise the Marina del Rey Harbor!

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness is set to host its annual benefit brunch aboard the FantaSea One yacht.

The deaf, hard of hearing and hearing communities are gathering to celebrate the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, Inc. 12th Annual Benefit brunch and its 45 years of activism and social services in Marina del Rey on Sunday, Oct. 5.

GLAD is set to host its annual benefit brunch aboard the FantaSea One yacht. Comedian, actor, director and producer, CJ Jones will delight the audience and bring together numerous corporations and organizations that have demonstrated an extraordinary level of support to the deaf and hard of hearing community sustaining the mission of GLAD.

“Access to communication will always be a barrier thus GLAD will always endeavor to remove any form of barrier,” said Dr. Patricia Hughes, GLAD CEO.

The event is set to last 3 hours and includes: a delicious breakfast buffet that features breakfast favorites plus a gorgeous cruise around the Marina del Rey harbor, entertainment will be provided by DJ Nick Ontiveros and a comedic skit by CJ Jones interpreted by trained sign language interpreters and Real Time Captioning provided by Caption Colorado projected on TVs on each deck.

Together we can empower, advocate and improve the quality of lives for every deaf and hard of hearing consumer. Proceeds from this fundraiser go towards crucial GLAD programs including but not limited to: human services, health education and awareness, senior housing, communication assistance, employment development, public relations, and much more.

ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth” actors Ryan Lane, Stephanie Nogueras, Daniel Durant, Anthony Natale and more will be among GLAD’s guests. ABC Family has supported GLAD and its mission for 3 years, bringing to deaf culture awareness and American Sign Language to the forefront.

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, Inc. (GLAD) has been improving the lives of the deaf and hard of hearing since its establishment as a volunteer organization in 1969. Founded on the philosophy…”of, by, for and with the deaf and hard of hearing”, GLAD’s Deaf Community Center encompasses a wide array of specialized health and human service programs for the deaf and hard of hearing community.

Approximately 150 deaf and hard of hearing family and friends are expected to attend this unique event at 13509 Fiji Way Marina del Rey. This event is sponsored by Sorenson VRS, ABC Family, Hamilton Relay and City National Bank.
