Friends of Ballona Wetlands Voted Best Neighborhood Non-Profit Group
In its annual "Best Of" poll of readers, the Hometown News gave top kudos to the Playa Del Rey-based environmental organization
In their August 24 edition, the Hometown News, serving Westchester, Playa Vista, Playa Del Rey and Marina Del Rey, announced winners of their annual “Best Of” readers poll. Friends of Ballona Wetlands topped the poll for Best Nonprofit Organization.

Voting for the 13th annual poll took place June 10-July 11. One vote per IP address was allowed using a Survey Monkey poll.

Since 1978, Friends of Ballona Wetlands have worked with more than 100,000 volunteers to remove 40 tons of trash and more than 324 tons of invasive plants from the Ballona Wetlands State Ecological Reserve. This is the first time the nonprofit received this award from neighbors.
