Marina Del Rey Firm Receives $10 Million Air Force Contract

Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. was awarded the contract to develop translation software for use in military operations.

MARINA DEL REY, CA -- A Marina Del Rey firm was award a nearly $10 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to develop translation technology for use in military operations.

Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., which is headquartered in Virginia but with facilities all over the U.S. including Marina Del Rey, was awarded a $9.5 million contract to develop "human language technologies to enhance warfighter operations."

Northrop Grumman was charged with improving online learning of translation, advanced computational methods, and faster processing for multilingual multimedia translation.

The work is expected to be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; Marina Del Rey; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Chantilly, Virginia with an expected completion date of 2021.
