Marina Del Rey Steps Up Enforcement Against Illegal Charters

Illegal charters are an issue that is not unique to Marina Del Rey. Harbors around California are facing the same issue.

MARINA DEL REY, CA -- Los Angeles County’s Department of Beaches and Harbors are increasing enforcement effort in order to curb illegal boat charters in Marina Del Rey, according to The Log.

The boating and fishing news outlet reported that the DBH also have contemplated doing a sting operation to weed out illegal charter businesses.

Illegal charters are an issue that is not unique to Marina Del Rey. It is prevalent in harbors up and down the coast, according to The Log.

DBH's chief property manager, Michael Rodriguez, has been working with the Marina Del Rey Convention & Visitors Bureau to monitor charter services operating in the harbor, according to The Log.

The charter businesses would contact the visitors bureau for advertising opportunities and bureau would turn those names over to Rodriguez to check to see if they have the required leases and licenses, according to The Log.
