• California brown pelican recovering after apparent neck slashing (foxla.com) — A brown pelican found starving in Marina del Rey is recovering after emergency surgery to repair a deliberately slashed neck pouch, and rescuers fear it may be linked to similar attacks reported years ago along the coast. International Bird Rescue in San Pedro is caring for the bird, urging residents to report any suspected wildlife abuse and seeking volunteers and donations to support ongoing rehabilitation work.
