Terminal 2 at LAX Evacuated After Man Made Bomb Threat

Police found nothing suspicious on the man and he was placed under a mental health evaluation at a local hospital.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man claiming to have a bomb triggered a evacuation Thursday afternoon at Terminal 2 at the Los Angeles International Airport, airport police said.

The man made the initial threat outside Terminal 2 at around 2:15 p.m., Airport Police Officer Alicia Hernandez said. The man then repeated the threat inside the terminal, she said.

The lower level of the terminal was evacuated and the Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad was called in, Hernandez said.

Police found nothing suspicious on the man and he was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation, she said.

The scene was cleared shortly before 3:15 p.m. and passenger and vehicle traffic is being returned to normal, according to airport police.
