MARINA DEL REY, CA - Residents should avoid swimming at the Mother's Beach due to increased bacteria levels, the department of public health announced Monday.

A number of county beaches have seen continued bacteria warnings, only worsened by a massive sewage spill near Palos Verdes in September.

Mother's Beach was among five Los Angeles County beaches to test for unsafe levels of bacteria, including: Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro; Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica; 40th Street extension in Manhattan Beach; and Manhattan Beach Pier in Manhattan Beach.
