Happy Persian New Year! The Nowruz celebration is being celebrated by Iranians worldwide.

Today is March 29. It is the 88th day of the year. We are under a waning crescent moon. Sunset will occur about 7:13 p.m. Here are five things to know:
1. The National Weather Service forecast for this afternoon calls for sunny skies with a high near 70 degrees with mostly clear skies tonight and an overnight low around 49 degrees. Forecasters expect it to be sunny Wednesday with a high near 75 degrees.
2. Happy Persian New Year. The Nowruz celebration is being marked by Iranians worldwide. Learn more about it right here.
3. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. today for Ernest Fleischmann, the longtime managing director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and general director of the Hollywood Bowl. The city will name the intersection of First Street and Grand Avenue the Ernest Fleischmann Square in honor of Fleischmann who died June 13 of last year. The philharmonic will present a tribute performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall at 8 p.m. featuring conductor laureate Esa Pekka Salonen and composer Pierre Boulez.
4. The Cesar Chavez state holiday is Thursday and the county has embarked on its 10th annual service week that will include county employees cleaning up Dockweiler State Beach in Playa del Rey on Friday. You can learn more about that right here.
