Alhambra High School Presents “Cinderella” April 19 - 22

Production is the first musical to debut on Alhambra's stage since 2019

Alhambra High School’s Drama Club is preparing to present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical, "Cinderella." The show will be held at the Performing Arts Building on the school’s campus at 150 E Street in Martinez on Wednesday, April 19, at 7 p.m.; Thursday, April 20, at 7 p.m.; Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, April 22, at 2 p.m. The musical is directed and produced by Gerry Wiener with musical numbers choreographed by Brittany Watson.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s adaptation of the timeless fairy tale was their only musical originally composed for television and originally aired on CBS in 1957 featuring rising Broadway star Julie Andrews. The musical's debut was viewed by an audience of more than 100 million viewers or 60% of American households, making it the most widely viewed event in the history of the medium at the time. "Cinderella" features some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved musical numbers, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.”

More than six decades later, the enchanting adaptation still exudes its original charm. Alhambra High School's production stars Senior Trinity Kelley in the titular role opposite Freshman Ethan Basa as the Prince. Supporting roles feature Audrey Lejano as Steward, Ben Williams as King, Brody Moran as Chef, Caprice Crum as Joy, Dahlia Guidos as Queen, Elena Reeves as Portia, Maren Shahade as Stepmother, Quinn Webb as Herald, and Rianna Herrera as Godmother. The ensemble of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” are Aedan Murphy, Aidan Rose, Angelina Harris, Annabella Boyce, Ben Scott, Calina Montero, Char Davenport, Eric Menconi, Faith Jonson, Gracie Kunkel, Jaylen Preston, Kaytlyn Kirkham, Lev Narducci, Luna Buckman, Mackenzie Clem, Maggie Shoemaker, Maliyah Aranzamendez, Marco Leon, Mars Kersey, Max Rivera, Niko Vaquerano, Ran Sun, Riley Whelan, Sapphire Sherzai, Sara Cutright, Sasha Olson, Spencer Fairchild, Tesslynn Ferra, and Tristyn Box.

Sara Stafford directs both the technical crew of "Cinderella" and its music. Technical crew for the production are B Rubio, Jennifer Lins, Mick McDowell, Nicole Cataldo, Ruby Lemire, and Theo Belt. Playing the iconic and memorable score are student musicians Austin Locker, Conor Topasna, Danny Dominguez, Dominic Lotti, Grant Snyder, Khin Lwin, Matthew Schick, Naomi Rivera, Nate Wagner, Rowan Crowley, and Tara Patterson who doubles as the crew’s assistant technical director. The orchestra will be conducted by Monte Bairos. Mrs. Stafford and Martinez Junior High School music teacher Sammie Flanzbaum will play alongside students on flute and trumpet, respectively.

Tickets for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s "Cinderella" are now on sale to the general public via the school's GoFan. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens, and $5 for children 10 years old and under.
