Caltrans Seeks Heavy Equipment Mechanics In Contra Costa County

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Caltrans is hiring heavy equipment mechanics in Contra Costa County as well as eight other Bay Area counties — Alameda, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano and Sonoma — and is aiming to fill multiple positions onsite during a hiring event this weekend.
"The Caltrans Division of Equipment in the Bay Area has multiple job openings throughout District 4, including lucrative opportunities for heavy equipment mechanics," said Pedro Quintana. "These roles offer a top scale salary, competitive benefits and a retirement package."
A heavy equipment mechanic's salary starts at $6,276 and increases to about $6,737 with retention—plus benefits, retirement plans and 11 paid holidays per year.

"The essential role of Caltrans heavy mechanics is integral to the transportation infrastructure throughout the state," Quintana said. "These skilled professionals ensure the optimal condition and safety of our vehicle fleets, including heavy-duty vehicles, to safeguard our employees."
Job seekers are encouraged to attend the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at 1993 Marina Blvd. in San Leandro. To provide more opportunities to local job seekers, Caltrans Division of Equipment will interview qualified candidates at Saturday's event and will also drug test candidates at the site.

Applicants are encouraged to bring photo identification to the event and a current copy of their DMV printout from within the last 30 days.
Caltrans is also hiring heavy mechanic apprentices and various other positions in the Bay Area.
