The U.S. Census Bureau, in a much-anticipated event that occurs every ten years, will release California data sometime this afternoon. The data was collected last year, as an army of temporary census takers roamed the country, going door to door and asking all kinds of questions.
At stake for local, state and national leaders is funding for a variety of programs that rely on federal dollars, as well as representation in congress. For those of us less reliant on such things, it is a chance to see a ten-year snapshot of our city - its makeup in terms of population, economics, and ethnicity.
The numbers are expected to be released sometime early this afternoon. Martinez Patch will have a story about it shortly thereafter. Stay tuned.Â
