Coroner IDs Driver Killed Christmas Day In Cummings Skyway Crash

The other driver in the two-car collision near Crockett Hills Regional Park survived but with significant injuries, according to CHP.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A Rodeo man who died in a two-car crash in unincorporated Contra Costa County on Christmas morning has been identified as 57-year-old Edward Garner, according to the coroner's office.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 10:45 a.m., Dec. 25, on Cummings Skyway just north of state Highway 4, near Crockett Hills Regional Park.

Investigators determined that a sedan had drifted off the roadway, overcorrected and steered into oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV.

Garner, who was at the wheel of the SUV, died at the scene of the crash. The sedan's driver, however, survived with significant injuries.
