Driver Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash On Highway 4 Near Bay Point
The crash involving only a blue GMC Envoy happened near Bailey Road.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A man died in a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday night on state Highway 4 near Bay Point, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP Contra Costa officers were dispatched shortly after 11:20 p.m. Tuesday to the collision involving a blue GMC Envoy on westbound SR-4, near Bailey Road.
A man was driving the SUV westbound when it hit the center divide and continued on to collide with a light pole and a tree along the right shoulder, the CHP said.

Emergency personnel found the man suffering from fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no passengers in the car.

The Contra Costa County Coroner's Office was expected to release the man's name once his family members were properly notified.
"Our preliminary investigation indicates the GMC was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash and the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash," CHP Contra Costa said in a news release. "This crash is still under investigation, if anyone witnessed it or the events leading up to it, please contact CHP Contra Costa in Martinez, 925-646-4980."
