Free Advice On Being Your Own Lawyer Extends Reach
Already available in Martinez, the countywide service moves to Richmond to provide guidance for folks wishing to represent themselves.

MARTINEZ-The Contra Costa County Public Law Library has extended the outreach of a free program that provides general legal guidance for any county resident who wishes to represent themselves in court.
Already offered the second Tuesday of each month in Martinez, the program will now be available in the Library’s Richmond branch on selected Thursdays beginning January 14, 2016.
During free sessions, volunteer lawyers meet with persons wishing help for twenty (20) minutes.

The volunteer attorneys cannot be considered as personal lawyers, according to the Library. The lawyers are there to provide “general guidance and information only.”
No appointment is necessary. Sign-ups are first-come, first-served and begin at noon in the Library’s Martinez branch and at 1:30 in the Richmond branch.
