Fundraiser This Week For Martinez Woman Battling Cancer

A young Martinez woman diagnosed with uterine cancer will be the focus of a fund raising rally to help offset her medical bills beginning today at in the Muir Station Shopping Center. 

Kristina Hunter, 27, underwent surgery in October for cancer of the uterus, but it was later determined that it had spread to her lymph nodes. She is undergoing treatment and has insurance through the Contra Costa Health Plan, but that doesn't cover much of her treatments. 

So her friends and family are holding a fundraiser for her at Kinder's beginning today at 5 p.m., and going through December 22. SF Giant Sergio Romo will sign autographs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. A portion of all sandwich sales between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. through Dec. 22 will go toward Kristina's medical fund. You can find the Facebook page here.
