A 15-year-old girl suffered minor injuries when she was hit by a Ford pickup truck as she was crossing the street to go to school in Crockett Wednesday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The collision was reported at 7:21 a.m. in front of John Swett High School, located at 1098 Pomona St. in Crockett, CHP Officer John Fransen said.
The driver initially left the scene but later returned and said he had been unable to see the girl because the sun was in his eyes, Fransen said. He has not been arrested, according to the CHP.
The girl complained of pain after the collision and was taken to a hospital as a precaution, Fransen said.
