Health Fairs Offer Free Breast Exams For Uninsured Women

Contra Costa Health Services will host a series of health fairs, including one in Martinez on Oct. 12.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Contra Costa Health Services is set to host health fairs throughout the county this month to provide breast exams for uninsured women.

The first 40 women at each health fair will receive a free breast exam, county officials said.

County officials said that breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer among women in Contra Costa County, and the second leading cause of cancer death.

The fairs are scheduled for:

October 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Martinez Health Center, Building 1, 2500 Alhambra Ave. in Martinez.

October 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pittsburg Health Center, East Clinic, 2311 Loveridge Rd. in Pittsburg.

October 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Richmond Health Center, 100 38th Street in Richmond.
